I am a member of the Trout Unlimited Weber Basin Angler Chapter and have had the pleasure to meet and fish with some great people from the local chapter. I have taken out members including the chapter President, Kelly Marquart, and Weber State University Professor Dan Hubler on streamer trips. Chapter member Dr. Tom Doxey is well respected and known for his fly tying work and I have had the opportunity to fish with Tom, one of the best guys around, a handful of times. There are not many people who don’t know Tom and he never forgets a name or face. We decided to take a trip on the South Fork of the Ogden River and the Ogden River and I had a fly fishing experience I will never forget. Tom has fished all over the country and beyond. He hooked into a 6 1/2 inch (generous estimate) splashy little brown on the South Fork that brought a smile to his face. As accomplished of an angler as Tom is, landing big fish all over the country, he was smiling over a fish about the size of a streamer I might throw? Why would he be smiling? I was happy going through my GoPro later that night that I caught such a special moment as this one. This is what makes fly fishing special; catching wild trout (no matter what their size) in their natural habitat and it is simply amazing and fun. Tom taught me to truly enjoy every moment of fly fishing and cherish every fish I am able to catch and I thank him for that!
I just want to give my total praise and support of Derick Roskelley. He took my son fishing and taught him techniques that changed his ability to fish
I work with Derick during the day at a high school for students with disabilities. I wish you could see Derick in action. He’s energetic and positive and makes kids love physical activity. He brings so much energy and friendship to our school. This is ONE great fisherman and person!!!!
